Past Grantees

Since the end of 2017, Remy’s Good Day Fund has invested in 64 programs, granting approximately $864,187 to tribal communities and rural New Mexico villages! We are gratified to have the capacity to fulfill our Mission Statement "Collaboration for sustainability and the well-being of future generations.”

 

Additionally, RGDF has gifted $92,500 to various non-profits that support women, climate change and education.

2017:

  • Gallup Solar: Grant supporting an annual class for Navajos living off-the-grid in the Gallup area, to learn about solar systems, their installation and maintenance on their own homes and those of family. Job training through course certification.

  • Pueblo of Laguna: Grant for the assessment of power needs and determination which of six villages is appropriate for solarization.


2018:

  • Centro de Amistad Santa Clara Senior Center, in partnership with New Energy Economy: Solarization of Senior Center, the revenue saved will be re-invested in programs.

  • Gallup Solar: Funding for second annual class for Navajos living off-the-grid in the Gallup area, to learn about solar systems, their installation and maintenance on their own homes and those of family.

  • Los Pueblos Community Council, Ribera Community Cultural Center: Solarization of a re-purposed school building serving as a community center.

  • Pueblo of Cochiti, in partnership with New Energy Economy: Solarization of the Hahn (community) Center.

  • Taos Education and Career Center, UNM-Taos: Scholarships and solar energy certification preparing community members to enter renewable energy workforce.


2019:

Casa Milagro, in partnership with New Energy Economy: Solarization of main building of residential facility supporting formerly homeless people.

  • Energy Sovereignty Institute: Stakeholder Convening of tribal leaders in the energy field, representatives of pilot programs to discuss attitudes, goals, potential for energy sovereignty.

  • Gallup Solar: Grant supporting third annual class for Navajos living off-the-grid in the Gallup area, to learn about solar systems, their installation and maintenance on their own homes and those of family.

  • Pueblo of Cochiti, in partnership with New Energy Economy:  Solarization of Keres Children’s Learning Center.

  • Pueblo of Nambe, in partnership with Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative: Installation of PV-on-a Pole at two residences.

  • Pueblo of Zuni Veterinary Clinic, in partnership with Biotecture Planet Earth: Solarization of earthship to serve as a veterinary clinic for the Pueblo and neighboring areas.

  • Taos Education and Career Center, UNM-Taos: “Solar Tech Certification Training for Taos County, Part II.

 
2020
:

  • Energy Sovereignty Institute: (1) Web-Based Clearinghouse and Public Information Resource, (2) Video Productions for Clearinghouse and Public Information Source, (3) Support for Rochester Institute of Technology PhD research candidate.

  • Gallup Solar: Grant supporting fourth annual class for Navajos living off-the-grid in the Gallup area, to learn about solar systems, their installation and maintenance on their own homes and those of family.

  • Pueblo of Laguna: Matching funds for solarizing four recently constructed community centers.

  • Taos Education and Career Center, UNM-Taos: “Integrated Education and Solar Tech Certification Training for Taos County”.

  • Tewa Roots Society, Pueblo of Nambe: “Resilience, Empowerment, through Sustainability” youth leadership project teaching the benefits of solar power for energy sovereignty.


2021:

  • Cornerstones Community Partnerships: Solarization of San Miguel Chapel: (1) Preliminary drawings and assessment for solar need, (2) Solarization of Chapel.

  • Covenant Pathways Spirit Farm: Installation of solar energy for water pump to irrigate gardens and attachment of solar unit to cart to pump rainwater.

  • Jemez Pueblo Tribal Network: (1) Solar equipment purchase and installation for three new tower access points for connectivity throughout the village, (2) Purchase solar materials, installation for two new tower access points for Pueblo members living off, but adjacent to the Pueblo.

  • Northern New Mexico College: 10 scholarships for students enrolled in alternative energy, solar classes.

  • Pueblo Adobe Solar Initiative: (1) Scholarship, (2) Research to build two Tiny Learning Centers on Pueblos of Jemez and Taos.

  • Taos Education Collaborative: Funds to augment shortfall in electric bills to support connectivity to low-income households.

  • Taos Land Trust: Solarization of two greenhouses producing food for the Greater Taos Community.

  • True Kids 1: Support for youth classes communicating solar message to the Taos Community.


2022:

  • Covenant Pathways Spirit Farm, in collaboration with Gallup Solar: “Regenerative Agriculture, Solar Power, and Economic Development for Community Health and Resilience”, two non-profits working together for greater impact primarily with members of the Navajo Nation and some Zuni members in the Gallup area.

  • Gallup Solar: Support for fifth annual class for Navajos living off-the-grid in the Gallup area, to learn about solar systems, their installation and maintenance on their own homes and those of family.

  • Major Market, in partnership with New Energy Economy: Solarization of market offering fresh and healthy prepared foods, community meeting place, transportation hub.

  • Microgrid Systems Laboratory: “Global Energy Access Innovation Workshop”, a convening of international thought leaders (including New Mexico) to exchange ideas on energy access to those most in need.

  • Northern New Mexico College: “Resilient El Rito Project”: Revitalize and expand workforce training opportunities on El Rito campus and create community resilience microgrid in village of El Rito.

  • Santa Fe Farmers Market Institute/El Bosque Garlic Farm: Support to provide grid-tied electrical to supplement existing solar power and meet additional power demand for the farm, an Institute member.

2023:

  • TrueKids 1 - With a focus on youth media and technology the core funding supported a second Future Dialogue “The Future of Food”, in collaboration with Red Willow Center, an indigenous-run non-profit on Taos Pueblo whose mission it is to reclaim the agricultural heritage of Taos Pueblo and restore its traditional food systems. The partnership produced videos of youth-driven Pueblo stories complimented by other youth-produced stories for public presentation/education.

  • Covenant Pathways Spirit Farm - The funds were used for “Supporting Community-Based Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic.” Spirit Farm (regenerative farming) is partnering with Gallup Solar to provide workforce training and employment.

  • Microgrid Systems Laboratory - Preliminary work on "Indigenous Energy Fellowship Program" - Phase 1.

  • Santa Fe Indigenous Center - Support for Emergency Financial Assistance and for Cultural Sustainability Activities for the indigenous population served in Santa Fe County.

  • Santa Fe STEM - Advocates for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programming for all youth, especially under-represented groups.  The grant funds were used to finance their “Mentor students in-school on building Tabletop Solar Trackers and Smart Greenhouses” program.

  • Gallup Solar - The funds enabled the creation of Solar Team 7, which includes training for 10 members of the Navajo Nation living off-the-grid to install and maintain solar systems on their own homes or that of another indigenous person, often an elderly relative.  Priority is given to those who need refrigeration for medication.

  • Talking Talons Youth Leadership - RGDF provided assistance for the development and implementation of a long-term Youth Climate Education and Leadership Program that aims to identify, train and mobilize the next generation of leaders, change-makers and problem solvers in the face of climate change.

  • Dixon Community Fire Department - Benefiting the “Solar and Battery Storage Installation for the Emergency Management Center” to ensure reliable and sustainable power, as part of a long-term plan to create a communications hub to respond effectively to disasters.

  • Microgrid Systems Laboratory - Preliminary work on "Indigenous Energy Fellowship Program" - Phase 2.

  • we.grow.eco - Promoting & conducting sustainable projects in NM public schools.

  • Major Market - Funding to support the 100% Zuni owned, carbon-neutral, grocery, and meeting space.

  • Veterans Off-Grid - Supporting the solarization of earth ships for veteran community in Taos.

  • Cornerstones Community Partnership - “A Model Solar Adobe” demo project at Luna Community College to assist those who lost their homes in 2022 fires/flooding.
